Single Jointed Baucher bit from Horse Guard, made of stainless steel for long-lasting durability. The Baucher bit provides a more stable feel and remains very steady in the horse's mouth because the cheekpiece and reins are attached to different rings. This also gives the bit a mild leverage effect.
Because they are known for staying still in the horse's mouth, Baucher bits are often recommended for slightly sensitive or young horses where you want a bit that doesn't move unnecessarily. Baucher bits can also be a good option for those who typically ride with sharper bits, such as a kimblewick bit, and want to transition down while not feeling entirely ready to switch to a regular snaffle yet. Baucher and kimblewick are quite similar, but the Baucher is milder.
Baucher bits are classified as milder bits, but they are still sharper than a traditional snaffle bit because, in addition to applying pressure in the mouth, they also apply pressure to the neck. Therefore, we recommend that it be used by an experienced rider with a gentle hand. If you want a milder bit that also stays still in the horse's mouth, bits with cheek pieces are an equivalent option but not as sharp as the Baucher bit.
The shanks of this particular bit are 6.5 cm long, measured from the mouthpiece to the highest point of the small ring.
Usage
The cheekpiece is attached to the upper ring, and the rein is attached to the larger ring at the bit.
